There are many aspects to the issue of farm land acquisition for industrialisation. The farmers in Singur own very small acreage of land from where they get a meagre income. Any family owning less than at least a few acres of land cannot really make ends meet from agricultural income and industry really gives them a chance to earn more, provided ther are qualified to be employed. The real issue today is that the CPM Govt is being treated by Trinamool the same very way they were treating the Congress Govt in the Sixties merely to gain political power. Mamta is unreasonable. Yes and it is clear from the demand that the farmers want land from within the Project area. If the motive was really cultivation, any farmer would have agreed for an equally fertile land anywhere in the vicinity of his place of domicile. The CPM is certainly at fault by the sheer high-handedness of their treating the acquisition. Why are they coming out openly about the quantum of land acquired from every farmer and the comensation paid to him. This will place them in better light. More openness is the only solution now!
