Top corporate law firms increase salaries for fresh graduates
Move seen as reaction to loss of fresh talent overseas, gearing up to tackle the impact of the entry of foreign firms

Dear Arupam why are u so antagonistic towards law skoolites? And the answer as to how long law firms are gonna offer us sky high salaries is a very very long time…I don see the trend declining…on the other hand foreign firms are recruiting more and more from law skool…and abt finding solutions to core problems, there are many students who may opt for corporate jobs after 5 yrs but after gaining financial stability go into litigation. There are also law skoolites who are part of the IAS, policy making bodies and NGOs. Money is definitely a big consideration because after working so hard for 5 years, students don’t want to work for a pittance. I don’t know why this sentiment is so difficult to understand. I accept that people from other law colleges can be talented but don’t tell me that law skoolites are not. Whatever I have seen during my years in the National Law School has shown a diverse group of people who are talented in their own unique ways (and multifaceted too…strawberry fields forever :)…people who don’t know what SF is go die! ). No one is depriving anyone of any opportunity. Don’t blame us because all the best law firms come and recruit us. And people who say we are recruited because of the law school brand well just stop and think how brands are created. It’s because our alumni has distinguished itself in India and abroad (which is why foreign firms come to law school and not other regional colleges).
