Always fumbling for the TV and/or DVD remote, but never finding it where you think you kept it the last time? With its 2.8-inch LCD screen, 3.3x3.3x0.078 inches dimensions and 150gm weight, the Mtube looks like a media player or GPS device. But it is, in fact, a powerful Linux-based wireless ultra mobile PC. Developed under the aegis of the Taiwanese government, the National Taiwan University and the Institute for Information Industry (III), and slated for a 2009 release, the diminutive Mtube boasts of both WiMax and WiFi connectivity but offers only a 4-hour battery life. With a 640x480 resolution colour screen, built-in Firefox for browsing, it is powered by a VIA 1.0GHz C7-M processor and comes with 8GB of flash storage. Aided by its H.264, WMV, RMVB, MOV, FLV, and DivX video codec handling prowess, the Mtube can be utilized as an Internet-savvy digital video player and as a WiMax-equipped streaming server for video. The Mtube is also capable of speech recognition.
