It claims to be the world’s smallest PC. The 800x480 resolution OQO e2 is driven by a 1.5GHz or 1.6GHz VIA C7-M ULV processor and integrated graphics chipset. It has a 5-inch WVGA LCD touch screen, a shock-mounted hard disk that can be increased to up to 120GB in capacity, 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM operating at 533MHz, 58-key EL backlit thumb keyboard, a track-stick pointing device, digital pen, internal speaker, microphone, embedded AES hardware encryption, and operates with Windows Vista or XP. OQO has 9 antennae built into the magnesium alloy chassis to beef up its WiFi, Bluetooth and mobile broadband (UMTS/HSDPA 2100MHz; GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1800MHz) compatibility demands. The ports include an audio jack, HDMI, VGA/Ethernet adapter, docking/power connector, and USB connector. The removable 9000mAh lithium-ion polymer battery has an estimated life of 6 hours.

What’s so revolutionary about a microSD card in this day and age? Nothing, really. But if you look at the SanDisk’s whopping 8GB capacity, the little thumbnail-sized card takes on a whole new dimension. Eight gigabytes today means 1,000 MP3s plus 1,200 high-res pictures along with 21 hours of high-quality video. And wait, the microSD card is not quite the end of this tale. Working in tandem with the card is a SanDisk MobileMate micro reader—a USB 2.0 compatible “shell” contraption into which you can insert the microSD and then plug the whole thing into a PC as a regular 8GB pen drive.

This is sound at your fingertips. Literally! Intended for use with all MP3/MP4 players, PDAs, cellphone handsets, the entire iPod family or any device with an audio socket, the compact plug and play speaker incorporates a foldable 3.5mm Phono connector prong that hides in the cube for a no-wires look. Each speaker weighs 17g, making it convenient to carry in a pocket or even on a keychain.

The sound output is rated at 0.8 watts with a total harmonic distortion of 0.5% and a 600Hz-20kHz frequency response—nothing imposing on the eardrums, yet pretty decent for this tiny size. Every mini boombox features an on/off switch, built-in amplification, mini USB port, and a USB rechargeable lithium battery that lasts for up to 4-5 hours.
