DoT appoints firms to look into telcos’ books
New Delhi: The department of telecommunications (DoT) has selected Contractor, Nayak and Kishnadwala, a Mumbai-based accounting firm, to look into the books of Bharti Airtel Ltd.
It also selected SK Mehta and Co. for auditing Vodafone Essar Ltd, Varma and Varma for Tata Teleservices Ltd and Chhajed and Doshi to audit Idea Cellular Ltd.
Audits were ordered by DoT on the insistence of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India after allegations that there were discrepancies in the revenue numbers reported to the regulator.
