Mumbai: Leading PC-peripheral manufacturer Logitech will soon enter the category of lifestyle consumer electronics interface devices with a range of next generation universal remotes, IPod and MP3 sound docks.
The company in a year will retail these products in 50-60 leading retail chains of the country, including Future Group’s E-Zone, Reliance Retail and Tata Group’s Croma among other local chains.
“We are now a dominant player in the PC peripheral market in India with four national distributors. Under our growth strategy, we are now entering the consumer electronics interface devices,” Logitech South Asia director Moninder Jain said.
Known for its computer peripherals like keyboards, mice and webcams, Logitech would aggressively enter the non-IT peripherals space in the next couple of months.
“We have been test marketing our universal remotes through Croma for sometime and have received a good response. Now we wish to have national launch of these products over the coming months,” Jain said.
Among the various products is the next generation universal remote christened Harmony 1000, which could operate upto 15 electronic devices.
“The touch-screen remote can be programmed online and with a single touch would seamlessly link with your DVD player, television, audio system, airconditioner and even the lights in your house,” he said.
The other products include noise cancelling headsets for Pod or MP3 players, a wireless DJ music system that could stream your music library saved on your computer or laptop onto your home music system, Jain said.
