Lupin, Wyeth settle suit over antidepressant

Mumbai: Lupin Ltd has settled its litigation with the US-based Wyeth Inc. relating to venlafaxine extended release capsules, its generic version of Wyeth’s antidepressant Effexor XR capsules, the company said in a release to the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday.

Under the settlement terms, Lupin will be licensed under relevant patents and can commercially launch its generic drug on, or after 1 June 2011.

The launch, under certain limited circumstances, could be earlier, but not before 1 January 2011, the company said.
