Housing prices see increase in September quarter
Rates increased in 12 of 26 cities covered by the National Housing Bank's residential index against the downtrend seen in the previous quarter in 22 cities
New Delhi: Housing prices showed an increasing trend in the quarter ended September in 12 of the 26 cities covered by the National Housing Bank’s (NHB’s) residential index (Residex), as against the downtrend observed in the previous quarter in 22 cities.
The increase ranged from 0.46% in Mumbai to 5.3% in Kolkata,
The biggest increase was seen in Kolkata (5.3%) followed by Chennai (4.95%), Hyderabad (4.77%), Ahmedabad (2.69%), Lucknow (2.14%), Surat (2.12%), Patna (2.04%), Guwahati (1.36%), Raipur (1.29%), Faridabad (0.99%), Chandigarh (0.53%) and Mumbai (0.46)%, according to Residex.
Ten of the 26 cities showed a decline in prices from the previous quarter with the largest fall observed in Meerut (-6.88%) followed by Delhi (-4.53%), Ludhiana (-4.46%), Vijayawada (-4.03%), Nagpur (-3.58%), Bhopal (-3.09%), Indore (-2.18%), Jaipur (-1.82%), Bhubaneswar (-1.03%) and Bangalore (-0.93%).
The index for 4 cities namely Pune, Kochi, Coimbatore and Dehradun remained stagnant.
