Lucknow: Flydubai, a low cost airline owned by the government of Dubai, on Thursday launched its operation in India with a direct flight between Dubai and Lucknow.
The launch was announced by the ambassador of United Arab Emirates Mohamed Sultan Abdalla Al Owais along with chief executive officer of the airline Ghaith Al Ghaith.
“I am delighted to be here with history being made with the launch of Flydubai in India and I congratulate the airline for its first flight to the historic city of Lucknow,” Owais told reporters.
Ghaith said that the airline, which was formed by the Dubai government in March 2008, would provide people the option to travel between Lucknow and Dubai at an affordable price of Rs6,300, including all taxes and charges.
“The airline would operate flights between Dubai and Lucknow thrice a week,” he said, adding that the airline has a fleet of eight brand new aircrafts and is operating between 21 destinations.
