Wipro agrees to set up 2nd development unit
Kolkata: West Bengal on Friday said Wipro Ltd had agreed to set up its second development centre in Kolkata on a 50 acre land in Rajarhat . The state government said in a statement Wipro officials met the information technology minister Debesh Das and officials of Housing and Infrastructure Development Corp. Ltd—a civic body that manages the Rajarhat township— on Friday and had applied for 50 acres of land. Wipro and Infosys Technologies Ltd were earlier allotted 90 acres each in a nearby IT township, which was scrapped following reports of forcible land acquisition.
