New Delhi: The Country’s largest power producer NTPC Ltd appointed R S Sharma as its new chairman and managing director on 1 May.
Sharma, who took over as director (commercial) in NTPC in October 2004, has 37 years’ experience in the power sector.
He played an important role in the preparation of guidelines for setting up power exchanges in India. He has also looked after work of corporate planning.
He was earlier ED (commercial) and also ED (corporate planning).
A mechanical engineering graduate from Government Engineering College, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, Sharma started his career in Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board. He joined NTPC in February 1980 at the Korba Super Thermal Power Station.
