New Delhi: The country’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki India, on Monday reported 29.18% jump in sales for July at 1,00,857 units.
The company had sold 78,074 vehicles in the same month last year, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement.
“This is the second time in this fiscal that the company’s monthly sales figure has crossed one lakh mark,” it added.
MSI had reported its highest ever monthly sales at 1,02,175 units in May, the first time when the company had crossed the one lakh units in monthly sales.
The National Capital-based company also posted its best figure so far for the domestic market in July at 90,114 units, a 33.45% increase from 67,528 units in July 2009.
MSI’s exports in July surged by 1.87% to 10,743 units from 10,546 units in the year-ago period, the company added.
The sales of the company’s once bread-and-butter model Maruti 800, however, declined 39.91% to 1,680 units compared to 2,796 units in July 2009, the statement said.
The A2 segment (comprising Alto, WagonR, Estilo, Swift, A-Star and Ritz) witnessed 33.18% growth at 64,079 units compared to 48,115 units in the same month a year ago.
Sales of sedans, consisting SX4 and DZiRE, increased by 13.75% to 10,352 units compared to 9,101 units in the corresponding period a year ago, the company said.
Total passenger car sales of the company rose 33.30% at 89,728 in July against 67,314 units in the same month in 2009, it added.
