New Delhi: India’s largest vehicle maker Tata Motors Ltd is planning to launch at least three new vehicles by next year, a company official said on Monday.
“We will be bringing a premium SUV on the same platform”, an official from the technical team of Tata Motors said on condition of anonymity. “We will also be launching the new version of Safari in January next year.”
The official said the premium sports utility vehicle will be manufactured on X2 platform.
Tata Motors newly launched Aria is first such vehicle built on that platform.
Besides, the company also plans to launch a multi-utility vehicle, which will compete with the vehicles such as Eeco.
“We will launch an eight-seater van next month in Rajasthan. This will be from Tata Ace platform,” Tata Motors utility vehicles product group head S.G. Saksena said.
The utility vehicle segment has grown 21% in the first two quarter of this fiscal. The industry sold 1,54,500 vehicles during April to September as compared with 1,27,400 units sold in the same period last fiscal.
