Mumbai: Engineering firm Siemens Ltd today said it has a received Rs212 crore order from Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) to provide a power distribution package at the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in Orissa.
The scope of work for Siemens’ industrial solution division, which has bagged the Rs212 crore order, includes designing, engineering, supply, civil work, erection, testing and commissioning of transmission lines and substations, the company said in a filing to the BSE.
As part of the contract, Siemens would provide an extra high-voltage power distribution package to the RSP for augmenting its existing as well as installation of substations.
“This order further reaffirms the edge that our products and solutions have in the power distribution market,” Siemens executive vice president Industry Solutions Robert Wagner said in a statement.
This programme would enable Rourkela Steel Plant to enhance its production capacity from 1.9 million tonne to 4.5 million tonne.
Shares of the company were trading at Rs227, up 2.55% on the BSE in morning trade.
