Mumbai: Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group Wednesday said it has cancelled the maintenance contract of its three choppers with aviation services provider Airworks Engineering India following the alleged sabotage of one of Ambani’s helicopters.
“We have cancelled our MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) contract with Airworks with immediate effect,” Reliance spokesperson said when contacted by PTI today.
ADA group firm — Reliance Transport and Travels — had an agreement with Airworks for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of its three Bell-412 choppers.
Last Friday, Captain R N Joshi, a senior pilot with Reliance Transport and Travels had filed a complaint with the Mumbai police alleging sabotage and an attempt to murder Anil Ambani after one of the choppers was found with pebbles and gravel in the fuel tank.
When contacted, Airworks Engineering India Director Ravi Menon said that the company had no information so far in this regard.
“We have so far not received any information about this (cancellation of contract) from the company (ADAG),” Menon said.
Bharat Borge, the man who spotted the pebbles in the fuel tank of the industrialist’s helicopter was found dead yesterday on a railway track in a Mumbai suburb with a suicide note in his pocket.
