Kolkata: LIC eastern zone has fixed a target of Rs 5,000 crore as premium income for the current financial year.
According to R R Dash, Eastern zonal manager of LIC, the Corporation had till January 2008, earned Rs2,600 crore as premium income. Of this, 15% was from health plans.
During February and March, premium collections witnesse a steep rise, Dash said.
LIC also launched the Health Insurance Plan on Monday in Kolkata. It is LIC’s first unit-linked medical insurance scheme. The scheme would provide health insurance cover for the entire family (husband, wife and children), and include hospital cash benefit and major surgical expenses.
