Coal India misses September output target by 4%

New Delhi: State-owned Coal India Ltd recorded an output of 37.17 million tonnes (mt) in September, missing the target by 4.1%. The target for September was 38.77 mt, Coal India said in a regulatory filing.
The government has set one billion tonne production goal for the company by 2020. The corresponding figure for the current fiscal is 550 mt.
Coal India missed the production target for 2014-15 by 3%, recording an output of 494.23 mt. The company accounts for more than 80% of the domestic coal production. PTI
