Mumbai: Textile firm Welspun India posted a net profit of Rs26.3 crore for the year ended 31March while total sales grew by 28% to Rs1240.9 crore from Rs973.6 crore in the year-ago period.
Its operational Ebitda (earnings before income, taxes, depreciation and amortization) rose by 7% to Rs168.8 crore during the period.
“The appreciating rupee, spiraling cotton prices and fuel prices affected the company’s performance. Despite these challenges, it has been an eventful year to position Welspun as one of the home textile player in the world,” company’s joint managing director Rajesh Mandawewala said.
Welspun India, a part of $3 billion Welspun Group, is the third largest terry towel player in the world. Its facilities are located in India (Anjar and Vapi in Gujarat), Mexico, Portugal and UK.
