Dubai-based NRI Yusuffali MA to join AI board
New Delhi : Air India will expand its board with a fifth new member. Dubai-based NRI businessman, Yusuffali MA has been appointed to the board as an independent director. Fali Major, Anand Mahindra, Amit Mitra and Harsh Neotia had earlier joined the board as independent directors.
Yusuffali, originally from Kerala, was awarded the Padama Shree in 2008 for his contribution to industry and social work. He is currently managing director of the Dubai based EMKE Group which is a multi national retail company. Yusuffali’s clearance is likely to come from the Prime Miniter’s Office.
Yusuffali also has significant experience serving in the Indian aviation industry. He served as the special invitee to the board of directors, Air India & Indian Airlines Ltd. in 1997 – 98 and is is a director of the Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL), a board member at Air Kerala International Services Ltd,(a government of Kerala’s enterprise to operate budget airlines. He also serves as a director board member of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry and is a member of many government bodies including the Prime Minister’s Global Advisory Council.
He has been nominated as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation established by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs. The Foundation serves as a credible single window to lead diaspora philanthropy into the social sector in India.
