Mu Sigma appoints Ambiga Dhiraj as CEO
Mu Sigma's founder and former CEO, Dhiraj Rajaram, will remain the chairman
Bengaluru: Analytics services provider Mu Sigma Inc. on Wednesday said it has appointed its chief operating officer (COO) Ambiga Dhiraj as its chief executive officer (CEO).
The news was first reported by The Economic Times.
Mu Sigma’s founder and former CEO, Dhiraj Rajaram, will remain the chairman.
“I am honoured and excited at the opportunity to lead Mu Sigma in its purpose to help clients adopt a fundamentally new approach to decision sciences and problem solving," said Ambiga Dhiraj, who was the COO since 2012, in a statement.
The company said that the new CEO will head the company out of Bengaluru, while the chairman will focus on client engagement in the US.
Last year in July, Mu Sigma’s managing director, Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, quit the company a year after joining it, and in March, its chief financial officer (CFO) Atul Bansal left the firm. Mu Sigma is yet to appoint a full-time CFO.
Mu Sigma was founded in 2004 and has so far raised about $178 million in three rounds from Sequoia Capital, General Atlantic and MasterCard. The last was a $45 million round in February 2013, when the company was valued at $1.5 billion. It counts about 140 of the Fortune 500 companies, including Microsoft Corp. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. as clients.
The firm has about 4,000 employees and competes against IT services firms Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), Infosys and Wipro, besides start-ups such as Opera Solutions Llc, Palantir Technologies Inc. and Fractal Analytics Inc.
