Kolkata: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will submit its recommendations on land acquisition norms and availability of land for industry to the new government in July.

CII president V Srinivasan on Tuesday said the chamber wanted a transparent land bank for the industry with availability of land on a continuous basis and was not in favour of acquiring wet and agricultural lands.

He added that the recommendations will be submitted to the new government after the Lok Sabha elections in July.

CII would suggest the government to formulate uniform and standardized land acquisition policy across the country to overcome state specific problems, said Srinivasan.

Speaking about West Bengal, he said the CII urged the state government to scrap the APMC Act to promote the food processing sector.

Srinivasan said he would try to explain the contract farming system, which was being opposed by the Left Front government.

This led to higher productivity without the farmer losing control of land, he added.

The industry chamber was engaged in IT hardware policy and skill development in the state.
