Volvo appoints new managing director

New Delhi: Swedish truckmaker Volvo AB has appointed Mriyunjaya Singh as its new managing director in its local unit. He replaces Eric Leblanc in Volvo India Pvt Ltd, the company said in an emailed statement. Singh, who joined Volvo in 2003, was heading the construction equipment business till now.
Volvo, which has a miniscule marketshare in trucks and buses, also has two other companies in India - a joint venture with Eicher called VE Commercial vehicles and Volvo Buses India Pvt Ltd. Singh’s unit is a a source for components, product design & development and IT services for the Volvo group, globally & locally besides the construction equipment division, the statement said.
