Dish TV posts net loss of Rs116.40 cr in Q3

New Delhi: Essel Group-promoted DTH service provider Dish TV Friday reported a net loss of Rs116.40 crore for the quarter ended 31 December, 2007 as against Rs91.90 crore in the previous quarter.

The company’s operating revenues increased by 48% at over Rs112 crore during the third quarter as compared to Rs75.5 crore in Q2FY08, Dish TV said in a statement here.

It added 2.97 lakh subscribers in the quarter, up 7% as against 2.78 users in the previous quarter. The gross subscriber base stood at 2.7 million as on 31 December, 2007.

“The quarter has seen sustained emphasis on subscriber acquisition and improvement in the quality of subscriber base, through aggressive marketing initiatives. Going forward, the company will continue with a strategy that focuses both on subscriber growth and revenue enhancement," Essel Group Chairman Subhash Chandra said.

During the same period, company’s shareholders approved preferential allotment of equity shares to Future Group’s arm -- Indivision India Partners. It also announced its tie-up with Kishore Biyani-promoted Future Group’s retail chains for promotion of Dish TV connections at discounted price.
