L&T Q4 net up 38% at Rs966 cr

Mumbai: Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced a standalone net profit of ₹ 966.76 crore for the quarter ended March 31, a 38% growth over the corresponding period a year-ago.
The company had a net profit of Rs700.77 crore in the fourth quarter of fiscal 07, L&T said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The company’s total income rose to Rs8,715.92 crore in the latest quarter from Rs6,466.26 crore in the same period a year-ago.
The board has declared a total dividend of Rs17 each, on every share of face value of Rs2, for 2007-08.
For the year ended March 31, the group reported a consolidated net profit of ₹ 2,325.36 crore, a marginal growth over the year-ago period. The firm had a net profit of ₹ 2,240.14 crore in FY’07.
The total income rose to Rs29,848.59 crore in FY’08, from Rs20,911.61 crore in the previous fiscal.
L&T announced a standalone net profit of Rs2,173.42 crore for the financial year ended March31, a 55% growth over the year-ago period. The company had a net profit of Rs1,403.02 crore in FY’07.
The standalone total income rose to Rs25,442.57 crore in the latest fiscal from Rs18,066.43 crore in the FY’07.
The board has approved the bonus issue of one share for every share of Rs2 held, the filing said.
Shares of L&T were trading at ₹ 2,830.50, up 4.48% in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
