Mumbai/New Delhi: State-run explorer Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd (ONGC) said on Friday it has discovered gas at a block in Tripura.
The gas contains up to 96.3% methane, it added. The exploratory well in the west Tripura block in the Assam and Assam Arakan basin flowed gas from an interval 2,164-2,168m at a rate of 160,000 million cu. m per day, the company said in a statement.
Meanwhile, ONGC approved combining the development of two offshore fields that would help save $133 million (Rs650.3 crore).
The estimated cost of developing the two fields off the west coast is Rs8,550 crore, ONGC said in an emailed statement on Friday.
