Tata Motors passenger vehicles sales up 21% in May
Passenger car sales during the month rose 32% to 9,176 even as the utility vehicle sales declined 15% to 1,962 units
Mumbai: Tata Motor Ltd’s passenger vehicles sales rose 21% in May to 11,138 units from a year ago, the company said in a statement on Monday. The sales rise, the company said, was led by increase in sales of its car models including the Zest, Bolt and the new generation Nano called the GenX.
Passenger car sales during the month rose 32% to 9,176 even as the utility vehicle sales declined 15% to 1,962 units in the absence of new models.
Sales of the company’s medium and heavy duty trucks rose 17% to 10,788 units while the light and small commercial vehicle sales continued to reflect the industry decline and dropped 19% to 12,892 units.
These impacted the overall commercial vehicles sales for the company that dropped 6% to 23,680 units. Exports during the month rose 27% to 4,678 units over a year ago.
Shares of Tata Motors lost 1.96% to ₹ 472.15 on Monday on BSE, while the benchmark Sensex gained 0.07% to close at 27,848.99 points and the BSE Auto Index lost 0.34% to close at 19,014.08 points.
