Five shortlisted companies, including GMR Infrastructure Ltd, Reliance Energy Ltd and Lanco Infratech Ltd, selected for possible city-side development of the non-metro airports of Amritsar and Udaipur will be retained, civil aviation minister Praful Patel said on Thursday. Opposition from the Airports Authority of India and clarifications sought by the Left on various issues in the Request For Qualification, or RFQ, for the two airports had led to concerns that the entire process could be started afresh.
“Obviously they will be there,” Praful Patel said referring to the shortlisted companies when asked if there could be a fresh selection process. He added that the city side development will be done by the private operator and the “terminal building will remain with AAI.”
