Mumbai: India’s top carmaker Maruti Suzuki on Friday hiked prices of several models, saying it wanted to pass on to customers part of a rise in input costs and expenses related to complying with new emission norms.
Among the models for which prices have been raised are the A-Star hatchback, which will cost about Rs1,000 ($22) more, and the less-expensive Maruti 800, whose price will go up about Rs3,000, the company said in a statement.
Maruti, 54.2% owned by Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corp, also withdrew introductory prices of its five-seater multipurpose car Eeco, which will now cost about Rs10,000 more.
