Mumbai: Aditya Birla Group company Idea Cellular on Thursday said its consolidated net profit for the third quarter of current financial year fell 7.31% at Rs219.45 crore over Q3 a year ago, even though the net profit of standalone Idea rose 19.73% to Rs284.01 crore.
The cellular operator had a consolidated net profit of Rs236.77 crore in the third quarter in the last financial year, Idea Cellular said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
However, on a standalone basis, Idea registered a net profit of Rs284.01 crore in the third quarter, a 19.73% growth rate over the corresponding period a year ago. The company had a net profit of Rs237.19 crore in the December quarter in the last financial year.
Consolidated total revenue rose to Rs2,731.05 crore in the quarter ended 31 December 2008, from Rs1,710.31 crore a year ago.
For the nine-month period ended 31 December 2008, Idea Cellular posted a consolidated net profit of Rs526.51 crore, a 31.24% decline over the same period a year ago. It had a consolidated net profit of Rs765.82 crore in the same period a year ago.
The total revenue of the standalone entity Idea rose to Rs2,606.45 crore in the third quarter of FY ‘09 from Rs1,710.31 crore of the last financial year.
Shares of Idea Cellular on Thursday settled at Rs42.05, down 0.12% on the BSE.
