Hyderabad: Global shipments of personal computers, or PCs, will grow by 19.7% in 2010, technology market researcher Gartner Inc. said on Thursday. The new numbers are an increase from its earlier forecast of 13%, made in December. About 90% of the growth is expected to come from mobile PCs or laptops.
“We expect mobile PCs to drive 90% of PC growth over the next three years,” said George Shiffler, research director at Gartner. “In 2009, mobile PCs accounted for 55% of all PC shipments; by 2012, we expect mobile PCs to account for nearly 70% of shipments.”
