New Delhi: The country’s power generation capacity addition in the year ended 31 March reached 31% of the government’s annual target.
Indian utilities added 3,454MW of capacity in the last fiscal compared with the target of 11,061MW, according to an undated report on the Central Electricity Authority’s website. India plans to add 78,700MW of generation capacity in the five years to 2012 as it seeks to spur growth and end poverty and blackouts in the country.
