Court orders release of Srinivas in Satyam case
Hyderabad: In a setback to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), a city court on Wednesday rejected the investigating agency’s plea and ordered release of Talluri Srinivas, an accused in the Satyam financial irregularities case.
Rejecting CBI objections, the additional chief metropolitan magistrate granted permission for immediate release of the former auditor of Price Waterhouse.
Srinivas was granted bail by the Supreme Court on 4 February in one of Satyam cases.
However, CBI had opposed his release, stating that he was involved in another case relating to income-tax offences, for which CBI had already filed the chargesheet.
The magistrate observed that all the cases related to the Satyam fraud case only and the bail granted by the apex court was applicable to Srinivas.
In January 2009, Srinivas was arrested along with S. Gopalakrishnan for allegedly conniving with Satyam founder B. Ramalinga Raju and others.
