Hyundai eyes slot vacated by Maruti 800
Kanchipuram: Hyundai Motors on Thursday said it is eyeing the slot vacated by rival Maruti Suzuki’s iconic model Maruti 800, which has been phased out.
A new small car that will fill the slot “between the Tata Nano and the Maruti Alto" is set to be launched by Hyundai Motors India, its vice-president R. Sethuraman told reporters here on Thursday. The new model would hit the road by the end of the year, he added.
Sethuraman further said the small cars from Hyundai would continue to be fuelled by petrol and LPG. The diesel versions would be available for higher-end cars.
The Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), a public charitable trust set up by Hyundai Motor India (HMI), has undertaken the task of improving and revamping Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the southern states, he stated. The objective is to raise a skilled workforce of young rural men and women in the field of mechanics.
