Bangalore: Sun Microsystems India managing director Anil Valluri and regional marketing director K.P. Unnikrishnan have left the company following Sun Microsystem Ltd’s integration with Oracle Corp.

“After working in Sun India for 11 years in different capacities, the last one being MD of Sun, I have exited them as a part of the Oracle acquisition process as of 5 April," Valluri said in an email.

In April 2009, Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems for $7.4 billion (Rs32,856 crore today).

The final regulatory clearances for the deal came in January, after which integration between the two companies had started.

More senior managers are expected to leave in the next few days as Sun Microsystem’s operations are integrated into Oracle’s over the next few weeks.

Vandana Shenoy, spokeswoman for Oracle India, declined to comment on the departures. “The integration process has commenced and we have nothing to say about senior executive movements," she said.

On Friday, technology news website CIOL.com reported that Bhaskar Pramanik, who was vice-president, volume business, at Sun Microsystems, had taken over as the new managing director of Oracle India, replacing Krishan Dhawan, who has left the firm. “More departures will happen. Only some of them will be voluntary," a senior executive at Sun Microsystems said on condition of anonymity. “Pramanik is an old Sun hand, having been with the company since November 1997, but there are some roles which will overlap and thus the rationalization."

Sun Microsystems, which sells computer servers, storage software and services, had revenues in India of around Rs1,638 crore in 2008-09 and employed 900 people, according to Dataquest, a magazine covering the information technology industry.

It has a strong presence in the top-end Unix server market in India and has a large installed base in telecom, banking and government sectors.

Oracle India has at least 23,000 employees including its India sales, research and development centre and Oracle Financial Services (formerly i-Flex Solutions Ltd).
