Maruti Suzuki launches Ciaz at Rs6.99 lakh
The diesel model is priced in the range of Rs8.04 lakh to 9.20 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi
Gurgaon: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Monday introduced its mid-sized sedan Ciaz in the India market with the petrol variant priced in the range of ₹ 6.99 lakh to ₹ 9.34 lakh.
The diesel model is priced in the range of ₹ 8.04 lakh to ₹ 9.20 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
Ciaz is cheaper than Honda Cars India Ltd’s City model by ₹ 21,000 to ₹ 1.33 lakh for petrol variants and by ₹ 35,000 to ₹ 1.25 lakh for diesel variants. The company has spent ₹ 620 crore in developing the car, which will also compete with Volkswagen’s Vento and Skoda’s Rapid.
Ciaz will be exported to Europe and the Middle East.
Maruti is targeting customers who are willing to graduate to a mid-sized sedan, managing director and chief executive officer Kenichi Ayukawa said.
“We have received over 10,000 bookings for the car and we aim to be a market leader in the segment. In the first year, we are looking to sell 60,000-80,000 units of the car," Ayukawa said.
C.V. Raman, Maruti’s executive officer for engineering, said that the company needed a car, which will not compromise on space.
“We made sure every feature is unique," he said. “Indian consumers will sit up and take notice."
