Small is big: Bajaj Auto Ltd, which unveiled a small car prototype on Tuesday that it plans to launch within four years, said the vehicle would be twice as fuel efficient as Maruti Suzuki India Ltd’s Maruti 800 that gives about 16km a litre, the best among Indian cars these days.

But Bajaj, which is the country’s second largest two-wheeler maker by volume, is unlikely to price its car at Rs1 lakh, which is the price of the much-awaited ‘people’s car’ from Tata Motors Ltd.Rajiv Bajaj, the managing director of Bajaj Auto, says it is about “making automotive products that make money”.
