Mumbai: Rising on the compact car model, Figo, July sales at Ford India Pvt Ltd saw a four fold increase to 8,739 units, over the last year. In the seven-month period from January to July, Ford has sold 46,751 vehicles which surpasses the best ever annual sales in company’s India history. Ford launched Figo in March this year and has had 29,000 cars registered so far.
Passenger and commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market at Tata Motors Ltd, the country’s largest automaker by value, rose 39% to 63,558 units. Driven by the small car Nano, of which it sold 9,000 units, passenger vehicle sales were the highest ever for the company at 27,864 units.
Two and three wheeler sales at Bajaj Auto Ltd, the country’s second largest two-wheeler maker rose 65% to 318,415 units. Of this, motorcycles accounted for 279,781 units. The company said in a statement that production constraint limited company’s sales.
