Mumbai: Zee Entertainment Enterprises on 21 October announced a consolidated profit after tax of Rs178.15 crore for the second quarter ended 30 September, an 83.55% growth over the corresponding period a year ago.
The media firm had a net profit of Rs97.06 crore in the second quarter of 2007-08, Zee Entertainment said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The consolidated total income rose 42% to Rs599.62 crore for the quarter under review, from Rs 421.07 crore in the same period last fiscal.
“This quarter has seen a considerable progress in the content business across channels of the network,” Zee Entertainment CEO and whole-time Director Punit Goenka said.
On a standalone basis, Zee Entertainment reported a net profit of Rs57.88 crore for the September quarter, a 16.87% decline over the year-ago period. The firm had a net profit of Rs69.63 crore in the second quarter of FY08.
Standalone total income rose to Rs324.38 crore in the second quarter of FY08, from Rs248.71 crore in the year-ago period.
In the second quarter of the current fiscal, the firm had a advertising revenue of Rs285.10 crore, up 30% over the same period last fiscal.
Zee Entertainment was trading at Rs145.80, up 0.69% in the afternoon on the BSE.
