Mumbai: Drugmaker Aventis Pharma’s quarterly net profit beat forecast and rose 17% primarily on other income that more than doubled from a year ago.
The company’s other income stood Rs 140 million, according to a statement.
The Mumbai-based drugmaker’s domestic revenue rose 12.1% to Rs 244 crore during the quarter while exports rose 9.3% to Rs 599 million, it said.
Acentis Pharma, a unit of France’s Sanofi , clocked a net profit of Rs 497 million on net sales of Rs 325 crore for April-June.
A Reuters poll of 17 brokerages had forecast a June quarter net profit of Rs 467 million on net sales of Rs 306 crore for Aventis.
At 3:17 p.m., shares of Aventis Pharma, which have gained 2.81% in April-June against BSE healthcare index that grew 6.21%, were trading at Rs 2,099, down 1.84% in a weak Mumbai market.
