Ginger hotels plans to open 19 new hotels by fiscal year end
Ahmedabad: A subsidiary of Tata Group chain of hotels Root Corporation of India (running Ginger chain of hotels) on Wednesday announced its countrywide expansion plans here.
“We started with 11 hotels at the begining of this year and intend to open between 8-10 Ginger chain of hotels by the end of this fiscal, across the country," Roots Corporation Ltd cheif executive officer Prabhat Pani said on the sidelines of inauguration of 16th Ginger hotel here.
Around 7-8 hotels of the group are under construction across the country, including the one in Surat, of this Rs300 crore company.
“We plan to construct 30 three-star hotels within a span of 12-15 months. By the end of 2008-09 we expect an increase of 30% in room demand," Pani said.
The company has one hotel each in cities such as Bangalore, Pondicherry, Trivandrum, Mangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Durgapur, Pantnagar and intends to open one more in the exisiting locations by end of 2009-10.
Setting aside the speculations of impact of slowdown on the hotel industry, Pani said: “The demand for three star hotels in India will continue to be robust with host of international games event lined up in 2009-10."
