Mumbai:Software firm Infosys Technologies has incorporated its first Latin American subsidiary and opened a development centre and office to cater to the Mexican region.
The Latin American subsidiary, Infosys Technologies S De RL De CV, would provide business consulting and information technology services for clients in all industries including banking, financial services and retail.
“The facility would help us establish our services in the Central time zone which allows us to provide better support to our clients located across multiple geographies,” Infosys Technologies CEO, S Gopalakrishnan said in a filing to BSE.
The development centre would provide key offerings in business process outsourcing and infrastructure management.
Mexico was chosen because of the broad language skills available in the region, its proximity to Canada, US and Europe. Besides, Latin America is a market and one where many of Infosys clients have operations already.
Mohit Joshi has been appointed as head of the new subsidiary. Formerly a group engagement manager with Infosys banking and capital markets organization, he has over 12 years of client and leadership experience.
For the first year, the Latin American subsidiary would have more than 250 seats. By its third year of operation, it is expected to employ nearly 1,000 staff. It will provide the company with dedicated resources to service clients in North America, Latin America and Europe.
Our clients are exploring opportunities to mitigate risk while expanding operations into the burgeoning market, Gopalakrishnan added.
