Videocon posts 71% fall in Q2 profit
Mumbai: Consumer durables major Videocon Industries on Thursday reported a 70.94% fall in its net profit to Rs72.98 crore during the second quarter ended 31 March 2009, over the corresponding period a year earlier.
The company had a net profit of Rs251.22 crore in January-March quarter last fiscal year, Videocon Industries said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Further, total income of the company during the second quarter of current fiscal year also dropped to Rs2,220.60 crore from Rs2,538.78 crore in the same period last fiscal.
For the six-month period ended 31 March, Videocon Industries reported a net profit of Rs133.41 crore, registering a 73.35% fall, compared to Rs500.71 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.
On Wednesday, shares of Videocon Industries closed at Rs109.10, up 1.39% on the BSE.
