Auto Expo 2016: Isuzu D-Max V-Cross makes inroads into India
Isuzu D-Max V-Cross would be launched in Indian in the second half of 2016
New Delhi: Japanese auto manufacturer Isuzu Motors Ltd unveiled the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, India’s first adventure utility vehicle, at the Auto Expo in Delhi on Wednesday. The product would be launched in the second half of 2016.
“India is gaining huge significance in the global arena, thanks to the fast moving economy and thrust on various growth factors. Isuzu will be a fully responsible partner and support the Indian government in curbing and keeping check on emission rates," said Susumu Hosoi, chairman and representative director, Isuzu Motors.
Isuzu Motors India Pvt. Ltd (IMI) a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Ltd, Japan, is headquartered in Chennai.
The company will start its operations at its new manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, from April this year.
The company recently announced that it has suspended production at the Hindustan Motor plant in Tiruvallur in Chennai.
With an initial capacity at 50,000 units per year, the company will scale up the production to 120,000 units per year with an accumulated investment of ₹ 3,000 crore.
“This new facility will have a localization of 70% and will continue to aid the commercial pick-up of the manufacturer," said Naohiro Yamaguchi, managing director, Isuzu Motors India.
“The pick-up market in India is expected to grow manifold. We have seen intense anticipation for a thorough-bred adventure utility vehicle among Indians," he said.
