CCI to take 6-7 months to become functional
New Delhi: After a long delay in appointment of a regular chairman, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) is expected to take another 6-7 months to become fully functional as more requitements are still awaited.
The government is likely to expand CCI by inducting two new members—Geeta Gauri, director (tariffs), Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission, and P.N. Parashar, former judicial member of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal.
But despite that, CCI is going to take another 6-7 months (to start functioning fully) as the staff for the commission is still to be recruited, a senior ministry official said.
