Toyota increases investment in India to Rs3,200 cr
New Delhi: Japanese car major Toyota Motor Corp said that it will increase its investment in India to about Rs3,200 crore (¥68 billion) for its upcoming second plant in Bangalore.
“An additional amount of around ¥33 billion (about Rs15.53 billion) will be invested for both general-purpose and specialised equipment necessary for manufacturing a new compact vehicle," the company said in a statement.
The company had earlier said it would invest about Rs1,650 crore (¥35 billion) on its second plant, which would manufacture its small car to be launched by 2010-11.
The new plant would have a capacity of one lakh units.
