Times Now CEO Lulla quits
Mumbai: Sunil Lulla, chief executive officer of Times Global Broadcasting Co. Ltd, which owns TV news channel Times Now, has put in his papers, say two people in the company familiar with the development. Lulla has been associated with Times Now since its inception in 2005 and had moved from SET India Pvt. Ltd (broadcaster of Sony Television channels, SET Max) where he was heading the digital and licensing business.
Lulla refused to confirm or deny his resignation. Senior executives at Times Global Broadcasting could not immediately be reached for comment on Friday evening. And the executive handling the Times Global account at a public relations firm did not comment on Lulla’s move. Mint could not ascertain when Lulla’s last day might be or where he is headed.
Times Now had successfully increased mass-appeal content, such as cricket and entertainment-related news, even as it downplayed business news, say media buyers.
The company has claimed in previous press statements that viewership of the channel has been increasing over the years.
