Pantnagar Nano facility resumes production
New Delhi: After a temporary halt in the first week of April, production of the Rs1 lakh Nano car has resumed at the Tata Motors Ltd’s Pantnagar manufacturing facility in Uttarakhand.
Tata Motors chairman Ratan Tata is likely to visit Pantnagar on 16 April to mark his first visit to the plant since the production of the world’s cheapest car began, people familiar with the development said on condition of anonymity.
Bookings for the car started on 9 April and will continue till 25 April. Total bookings for the car are expected to reach 300,000-400,000.
People familiar with the developments said the firm is still behind the production schedule. Employees of the car maker are expected to work multiple shifts to scale up production to at least 100 cars a day soon, from the present 20-25 cars a day.
Tata Motors has announced that it will manufacture 50,000 units of the Nano in the current fiscal year.
