Mumbai: S. Viswanathan has been appointed as a managing director of State Bank of India, according to two people familiar with the development, who declined to be named.
Viswanathan has taken charge with immediate effect.
Viswanathan, who was serving as a deputy managing director of the country’s largest lender, earlier headed the state-run bank’s investment banking arm, SBI Capital Markets Ltd.
With this, SBI has four managing directors, including Diwakar Gupta, who is also the chief financial officer, Hemant Contractor, who is in charge of international operations and A. Krishna Kumar, who looks after national banking.
