Infosys product team to double to 1000 people in two years

Bangalore: Software services firm Infosys Ltd’s product research and development team will double its strength to 1,000 in two years, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The research centre plans to develop products and platforms around cloud computing, mobility, analytics and social media that the company would like to patent, it said.

“Innovations in social media, cloud, mobility and big data are opening new doors for businesses globally,” said Subu Goparaju, head of Infosys Labs and Product R&D.

Infosys defines products as licensible software systems, while products are hosted and managed systems. The company has a long-term aspiration to obtain a third of its revenue from products and platforms. It currently accounts for around 5% of revenue.
