Bhavtosh Vajpayee becomes India head of equities of Barclays

Mumbai: Barclays Capital, the investment banking unit of UK-based Barclays Bank Plc, on Monday appointed Bhavtosh Vajpayee as managing director and head of equities for India, the company informed through a press release.
Prior to this, Vajpayee was head of technology research at CLSA with whom he has been associated for a decade.
Mike Di Iorio, head of equities for Asia Pacific said, “By the end of 2011 we expect to have established fully operational equities sales, trading and research businesses in and alongside our existing equities hubs in Hong Kong.”
The continued development of Barclays Capital’s Asia Pacific Equities franchise is central to completing this aim.., he added in the release.
Vajpayee, who will be based in Mumbai, holds the responsibility to lead and develop equity research, sales and trading, and will report to Di Iorio, head of equities for Asia Pacific. Vajpayee had also been associated with JM Morgan Stanley, prior to his stint at CLSA.
